St Bede's College holds alumni meet

The St Bede's Alumni Association organised a meeting of its former students in Shimla. The college Principal, Sister Molly, said students from the institute had excelled in various fields and brought laurels to the college. She said the college had tied up with several foreign universities to facilitate higher education of its students. Efforts were going on to offer new courses that could help students choose a career in the various emerging fields. Faculty members and the president of the alumni association, Purnima Chauhan, a retired Civil Service officer, were present on the occasion.

Ensure Covid preventive measures

The Directorate of Higher Education has instructed all Deputy Directors to ensure that Covid preventive measures were being implemented in the schools under their jurisdiction. The school administration has been instructed to sensitise students about the need to wear mask, hand sanitisaton and maintenance of physical distancing. The administration has also been instructed to ensure sanitisation/cleanliness of the campus and to made available hand sanitisers at most frequented spots in the schools.

Course on pollution control

The Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board conducted a training-cum-certificate course on environmental management and pollution control in Shimla. The session started with a presentation by DK Sharma, Environmental Engineer (retd) of the the board, on the challenges of urbanisation and its effect on water resources with respect to sewage management and polluted river stretch. Vishal Kumar, CEO, Waste Warrior Society, Dehradun, made a presentation on learning and experiences of solid waste management in hill states.

Event to celebrate Independence

In a programme, which will be held at more than 1 lakh schools by the All India Teachers' Federation on August 1, 'Bharat Mata' will be worshipped, and soldier and freedom fighters' families will be honoured. The federation president, Professor JP Singhal, said they were filled with enthusiasm to hold the massive programme on the occasion of 75 years of Independence.
