Solan, August 6
The Congress Pradesh Yuva Rojgar Yatra at Nahan today exposed factionalism in the party. It exposed a bitter rivalry between supporters of Iqbal Chaudhary and of former district president Ajay Solanki.
The two factions indulged in sloganeering in support of their leaders, leading to a minor clash between their supporters as the yatra passed through the town.
Yatra convener Vikramaditya Singh said, "The LPG cylinder price has increased from Rs 400 to Rs 1,200 during the BJP rule. People should ask BJP leaders about the hike in the LPG cylinder when they come for campaigning to Himachal."
He said that the Congress would fulfil its poll promises, including a Rs 680 crore Yuva Start-up Scheme, two lakh jobs in education and tourism departments, and a special package for homestays, hotels, adventure sports and the horticulture sector. It would also implement the MGNREGA, urban employment scheme as well as old pension scheme.
Factionalism dominated the show as posters of the two leaders were pasted in various parts of the town by their supporters. During the visit of HPCC president Pratibha Singh, too, a party leader had declined to sit on the dais.
