Shimla/Delhi, August 7
The government is implementing Rs 1,010 crore Himachal Pradesh Crop Diversification Scheme in all districts and 31,584 orchardists were covered under the state-sponsored schemes whereas 4.15 lakh benefited under the centrally sponsored schemes during the last four-and-a-half years, said Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur.
Participating at the Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog in New Delhi presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today, he said to double the income of farmers, 3,590 gram panchayats had been covered under the "Prakritik Kheti Khushal Kisan Yojana". Efforts were afoot to increase the production of pulses, oil seeds and other produce to achieve self-sufficiency with the help of the advanced technology.
Thakur urged the Prime Minister to allocate 5 TV channels to Himachal Pradesh of the total 200 channels under the recently announced Swayam Prabha, which will telecast high-quality educational programmes.
