As many as Eight Shimla participated in the two-day BL Modi Memorial Inter-school English Elocution Competition that concluded at Bishop Cotton School, Shimla. On the first day of the event, junior school children (Classes III-VIII) recited poetry and prose, including a speech by Martin Luther King and monologue from Charlie Chaplain's 'The Great Dictator'. On the second day, senior children (Class IX and above) performed dramas, including various monologues from Shakespeare's plays.
Capacity Building Event At HPNLU
The Centre for Comparative Public Law (CCPL), Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, is organising a two-week capacity building programme from July 16-29 on the theme 'Access to Justice in Ancient and Medieval India: Revisiting Possibilities and Challenges for Legal Pluralism in 21st Century'. The programme is being organised in association with the Indian Council of Social Sciences Research, New Delhi. The Inaugural session was held on Saturday at HPNLU, Shimla Campus. The Chief Guest of the event, Justice Sandeep Sharma, Judge, HP High Court, highlighted the challenges the legal system in contemporary times.
Girls shine in judo competition
Government Senior Secondary School, Kaithu, won the judo competition in a sports competition for under-14 girls that was held at GSSS, Kayana, Shimla. Girls of the Kaithu school won three gold, one silver and two bronze medals to claim the overall trophy in judo. The school principal Renu Chandel congratulated the medal winners.
