With merely a few months left for the next Assembly elections, the Himachal Pradesh Government today approved filling 500 posts of doctor and 880 posts of community health officer.
Four-day monsoon session from Aug 10
The monsoon session will be held from August 10 to 13. It will be the last House session of the current regime as polls are expected by year-end.
Notwithstanding the grave financial health of the state, a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur gave nod to opening new tehsils, block offices and health and educational institutions and upgrading the old. The Cabinet also decided to lift the ban on transfers for 10 days from July 18 to July 27.
Of the 500 posts of medical officer in the Health Department, 300 are to be filled through walk-in interviews within a month and 200 through the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission.
Nineteen posts of medical officer (dental) will be filled on contract basis. The 880 community health officers will be recruited on contract basis under the National Health Mission.
The Cabinet also gave nod to extend the market intervention scheme for the procurement of apple, mango and citrus fruits at an enhanced rate of Re 1 per kg compared to last year.
