Shimla DC rejects objections to delimitation, again

Shimla, June 25

The Shimla Deputy Commissioner has again dismissed objections to delimitation of Nabha and Summerhill wards that she heard on the directions of the Himachal High Court. Following the rejection of the objections, Simi Nanda, councillor from Nabha ward, has decided to appeal to the Divisional Commissioner. "I am not satisfied with the order passed by the Deputy Commissioner and will appeal against it to the Divisional Commissioner," she said.

Simi said there were a few technical glitches in the way the entire process was held and she was going to challenge it. "First, the DC was bound by rules to dispose of the appeal within 10 days, which he didn't. He took two weeks to dispose of the objections. Second, there has been a delegation of power from the Deputy Commissioner to the SDO in disposing of the objections. We had challenged this delegation of power in the High Court, and we would challenge it again," she said.

Meanwhile, the State Election Commission has written to the DC to fix the polling stations of five wards which could not be done earlier due to the stay granted by the HC.
