The BJP today welcomed the decision of the Election Commission to dismiss a complaint of the Congress against Brig Khushal Thakur (retd), BJP candidate for the Mandi Lok Sabha byelection, for displaying his Army cap and medals during campaigning.
The Congress had lodged the complaint to stop the Kargil War hero from using his Army cap and medals during electioneering but the commission dismissed it as untenable, said state BJP spokesperson Vinod Thakur while addressing mediapersons here today. "The Army cap and medals are won by soldiers by the dint of their valour. But the Congress is feeling uncomfortable and trying to belittle the gallant achievements of the Army," said Thakur. — TNS
