At Kullu, Brig Khushal Thakur (retd) promises development

The BJP and the Congress have intensified their campaigns for the Mandi byelection. BJP candidate Brig Khushal Thakur (retd) addressed public meetings at Darang in Mandi and Anni in Kullu district today and sought on the promise of ensuring development.

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, who accompanied Brig Khushal (retd) at Anni, appealed to people to support the BJP candidate in the byelection scheduled for October 30.

He said, "Anni is my neighbouring Assembly constituency. Today, I am with you as a neighbour. When I visited Nirmand in the Anni Assembly constituency a few days ago, I laid foundation stones and inaugurated development works worth Rs 234 crore. Some development projects have been completed while others will be completed soon after the byelection".

Congress candidate Pratibha Singh also addressed a public meeting in the Bharmour Assembly segment in Chamba district. She said, "The construction of the Atal Tunnel is the result of the efforts of Virbhadra Singh, who had raised the issue constantly with the Central Government when he was the Chief Minister of the state and also as the MP from Mandi. As a result, the previous UPA government at the Centre had on June 28, 2010, laid the foundation stone of the tunnel".

Pratibha was accompanied by Thakur Singh Bharmouri, MLA Asha Kumari and other local leaders. Shimla (Rutal) MLA Vikramadiya Singh was seen walking in the streets of Mandi to seek support and votes for Pratibha.
