Raise doctors’ strength to 5,000, says Himachal Medical Officers Association

Shimla, September 27

The Himachal Medical Officers Association (HMOA) has urged the state government to increase the cadre strength of doctors from 2,400 to at least 5,000 and fill all vacant administrative posts. "The strength of 2,400 doctors is insufficient. It needs to be increased to at least 5,000 to provide better health services and accommodate doctors coming out of our medical colleges," said HMOA secretary Pushpender Verma. "Also, there are many administrative posts lying vacant, including around 30 posts of Block Medical Officer. All administrative posts should be filled through the Departmental Promotional Committee, not on any other criteria," said Verma. —TNS
