Shimla, September 27
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur presided over meeting of state level Kullu Dasehra Committee here today to ensure that all preparations are in place for the festival in a time-bound manner. A detailed discussion on various issues related to organisation of the international Kullu Dasehra Utsav from October 15 to October 21 was held.
The Chief Minister issued direction to ensure proper security arrangements, uninterrupted electricity supply and adherence to Covid-19 guidelines during the festival. "Fairs and festivals represent our rich cultural heritage and the state government is committed to their conservation," he remarked.
"Kullu Dasehra is not only known in Himachal but globally and is a reflection of our religious belief and cultural values", he added.
Education, Language and Art Culture Minister Govind Singh Thakur gave details of the meetings held with the district level committee and district Kardar Sangh. He also gave various suggestion related to successful organisation of the festival.
It was decided in the meeting that all deities would be invited for the Dasehra festival. All religious ceremonies would be organised traditionally but the cultural and commercial activities would not be held.
It was also decided in the meeting that Language, Art and Culture Department would provide an additional amount of Rs 10 lakh to district administration Kullu for organising the festival.
MLA Surender Shourie, HPMC vice chairman Ram Singh, former MP Maheshwar Singh, general secretary Kardar Sangh Narayan Chauhan, Chief Secretary Ram Subhag Singh and Additional Chief Secretary LAC RD Dhiman were present in the meeting. — TNS
