As many as 64 gram panchayats in Lahaul and Spiti and Chamba districts will go to the polls tomorrow. "In the Pangi block, voters will elect office-bearers for 19 panchayats and 15 panchayat samiti members," said Electoral Officer Sanjeev Mahajan.
"In Lahaul, people will vote to choose the office-bearers of 32 panchayats, 15 panchayat samitis and seven zila parishad members. In Spiti, the voters will elect only three zila parishad members," he said.
On October 1, the byelections will be held in 80 panchayats to fill vacant seats.
Mahajan said the results of the panchayat elections would be announced tomorrow evening, and of the panchayat samiti and zila parishad elections on October 4.—TNS
