Man honoured for bravery

The district-level Independence Day function was celebrated with enthusiasm at Rehan in Fatehpur of Kangra district yesterday. The Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Sarveen Choudhary unfurled the national flag and took the salute from the contingents of the Himachal Pradesh Police and Home Guards. Ramesh Dhwala, Chairman of the state planning board, was also present.

Paying tributes to the martyrs, she said the nation would remain indebted to the valiant soldiers, who had shown the light of freedom by sacrificing their lives.

Addressing a gathering, the minister said the central and state governments were committed to women empowerment and launched the PM Ujjwala Yozna and Himachal Grihini Yojna to provide free cooking gas connections to the women.

The minister honoured Sunil Kumar for saving the lives of five persons during the landslide that triggered at Boh village in Shahpur, seven government employees for their commendable job during Covid pandemic in the district and a Gau Seva Sangathan and an NGO for caring and protecting abandoned cows.
