Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today said the issue to set up a Swarna Ayog in the state was under the active consideration of the government. He advised people to have patience and not make irresponsible statements.
He was replying to a question raised by Shimla (Rural) MLA Vikramaditya Singh through a point of order. "So far, only two states have set up the Swarna Ayog and people pleading for the Ayog in Himachal have met me twice," said Thakur. The government was studying the Ayog of Madhya Pradesh.
He, however, said, "Often there are political considerations behind such a decision but I feel that it should be issue based. This is a sensitive issue and nobody should make irresponsible statements, as these can hurt the sentiments of other communities". He added that when people took up the issue with him, they used an objectionable language.
Vikramaditya said that the Chief Minister should rise above party lines and set up a Swarna Ayog in Himachal. — TNS
