Shimla, August 16

Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar hoisted the national flag at Raj Bhavan on August 15 to celebrate the 75th Independence Day. Paying tributes to the martyrs, the Governor said their brave sons had made supreme sacrifices to protect the borders. He said Independence Day gave us an opportunity to introspect how we could contribute to the development of the country.

“By adopting our culture, traditions and moral values, we should strive to make the country a world leader and realise the dream of a new India. Only then we will be able to fulfil the dreams of the martyrs in true sense,” said the Governor.

He wished for the progress and overall development of the state and said the people should pledge to discharge their duties for the progress of the nation with devotion.
