Vehicular traffic on the Pathankot-Mandi National Highway was disrupted for a few hours this noon following a landslide. A Maruti Swift car (HP-97-4533) was completely damaged after big boulders fell on it while its owner Avtar Singh, a resident of Bhadukhar (Indora) who was driving, was seriously injured. On hearing the noise of the landslide near the Niazpur bus stop in the town, locals rushed to the spot, and started the rescue work by removing the boulders that fell on the car.

Injured Avtar Singh was extricated from the mangled remains of the car and rushed to the local Civil hospital. He was later referred to Tanda medical college, Kangra. He was reportedly on his way back to his native village from Dharamsala but was trapped under the landslide.

A landslide had happened on the same spot last Sunday night as well and traffic was blocked. The local PWD had pressed its machinery into service to restore the highway to traffic.
